Capital of the prefecture, built on the entrance of the Gulf of Amvrakikos. A modern city, administrative, commercial, intellectual and tourist center of the prefecture. Beautiful, traditional buildings adorn the port and the historical center while the pedestrian walkways and cobblestone streets lined with popular taverns and cafès remind us of the islands. The city's rich intellectual and artistic activities include frequent conferences, exhibitions and festivals.

Preveza is built on the location of ancient Vereniki which was founded by Pyrrhus, the king of Epirus,in 290 B.C. to honor his mother-in-law, Vereniki. The city was established towards the late 11^th century, after Nikopolis was deserted. Many conquerors passed through the city until it was finally incorporated with Greece in 1912. Its port offers connections to the islands of the Ionian sea.

The Acheron River is located just 50 km from Preveza and is a wonderful short trip through the crystal clear water surrounded by the high canyon. The river is the true pearl of this part of Greece, as it supplies the whole area with drinking water. Located in beautiful surroundings, with abundant vegetation and crystal clear water that make up the beautiful natural landscape. The river flows from Mount Souli Epirus and reaches the Ionian Sea at Ammoudia Beach.

In addition to its natural beauty, the springs of Acheron are known worldwide for mythological content. In ancient Greek mythology, Acheron was one of the five rivers that led to the underworld.

By Car

If you want to travel by car you can take either Egnatia highway or Ionia highway. When you arrive to Preveza you have to drive 5 minutes to Pantokratoras village and you almost be there.

By Plane

You may reach Preveza by plane. You can flight directly to Preveza airport (PVK) from a variety cities in all over Europe. From airport you can take a taxi (we can arrange it for you) and after 10 minutes you will be in our facilities.
